The Nationalist Movement In Assam (1997)
Assam, famed for its tea and silk, used to be an independent kingdom, until it was absorbed into British India. Now many in Assam want their independence back. The United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) claim that Assamese culture is under threat, that profits from tea and other production in the region is not being invested in the region, and that they have support from the people in their fight for independence. The Indian government however have classified ULFA as a terrorist organisation, with the Indian army fighting the group on the Assam border. While the disagreement continues, so does the violence, with an estimated 15,000 dying as a result of the conflict. Velocity Films reports from the region, gaining rare access to the ULFA's bases in Bhutan.

The Kohima Billy Graham crusade in 1972 #nagaland
Thousands of miles away, a generation of Nagas fondly remember the “great man of God” who in November 1972 came to Nagaland to preach at a crusade in Kohima. The crusade, organized by the Nagaland Missionary Movement, from November 17-22 was attended by more than a hundred thousand people from all over Nagaland and beyond.

Tripura was an independent monarchy until mid-1949, with no treaty with British India. By the mid-twentieth century, the state had been successfully ruled. The kings and queens of Tripura maintained the custom of minting coins to commemorate any war victory, donation, or coronation.

The Konyak of Nagaland (Trailer)
Trailer to "The Konyak of Nagaland". The Konyak of Nagaland presents rare coverage of the Konyaks, one of the tribes of Nagaland, who were feared as head -hunters, until not so long ago. The film is an experiential exploration of the Konyak people and their lifestyle as it exists today. It attempts to explain the unique qualities of the Konyak culture like the tradition of headhunting, cult of fertility, feasting and the wisdom of their customary way of life.

In 1995 Pan Nalin and his team made one of the most dangerous expeditions deep in the jungles of Nagaland to meet the last surviving traditional Naga people. The very last 1 minute of the film depicted 95% of the reality of Nagaland. But it is the rest of the film, for the first time, depicted rarely seen Naga lifestyle, songs, music, costumes, jewellery, and architecture. This film was made in 1995, and just two decades later none of the genuine tribesmen who appeared in the film were alive. The traditional homes and authentic Naga villages are now almost gone. Featuring: Manpa, Manya, Longshah, Neiying, The Chief Yangbong and the people from villages of Mon, Maram, Purul, Shangnyu, Longching, Aboi, and Changlang. The Nokpante
Nokpante, the house where unmarried male youth or bachelors live is called Nokpante. The word Nokpante means the house of bachelors. Nokpantes are generally constructed in the front courtyard of the Nokma, the chief. The art of cultivation, various arts and cultures, and different games are also taught in the Nokpante to the young boys by the senior boys and elders.
