Photography by Aly Shadap

Happy World Photography Day! Today instead of a photograph, we're sharing with you a hand-written essay on photography instead, penned down by Bah Aly Shadap. In his essay, he talks about photography and his experience and practice of it as a profession and as an art.

Bah Aly is a trailblazing Khasi photographer from Shillong whose works we have been privileged to digitise and even display in the Meghalaya Fiftieth State Day Exhibition. On the last day of that exhibition, he quietly took out two sheets of paper and handed them to us, suggesting that it might be useful for the students of St. Anthony's College. These two pages have become a document of great archival worth that we are happy to be sharing with you.

Bah Aly is such a gem, and we proudly have framed this essay and placed it the walls of the Department of Mass Media in St Anthony's College.

You can read Bah Aly's essay below.
