“Em|No|Nahi” was a photo exhibition in memory of (L) Tarun Bhartiya. He was an Indian documentary filmmaker, activist, photographer and poet whose work left a lasting impact on the Northeast region.
The exhibition was first showcased as a part of the National Photography Festival 2025, at the Navjivan Trust, Ahmedabad, and features the story of (L) Kong Spility Lyngdoh Langrin, in her fight against the pressure to sell her uranium-rich land for the purpose of uranium mining which was adversely affecting the health and ecology of the village Domiasiat where Kong Spility was from.



The Department of Mass Media, St Anthony’s College Shillong in collaboration with The Northeast India AV Archive on 10th to 12th of December, 2025, hosted the exhibition. There was also a film screening which featured three films Kings have Resorts/People have Songs, A Brief Life of Insects and the Last Train in Nepal. The event was attended by enthusiasts, friends, family, students and colleagues in remembrance of not just Tarun, as an artist, but also as a dear friend.
The photographs featured scenes from the village of Domiasiat, the people’s fight against the pressure of mining, scenes from their lives, their environment and culture. The portraits were accompanied by poems and maxims, written by Tarun himself.


Stories about Tarun and his life were shared amongst the attendees who also left written remarks on the exhibition and memories with Tarun.
