The Shillong International Film Festival was the first of its kind in the State. The three-day event consisted of movie screenings from within the State and around South Asia. The event also gave workshops on the various aspects of film making.
The North East AV India Archive also set up an exhibit in the convention centre's main hall. The displays consisted of Compact Disc covers of movies from Meghalaya, set up in a row for visitors to admire. The displays were carefully chosen to showcase Meghalaya's rich film history.

The three-day event concluded with good feedback from visitors . Various people expressed their nostalgia in reminiscing the old movies and how the cover pictures sent them back to a time when Meghalaya's film making industry was just starting to bloom. Comparing the small display CD covers with the movies screened on the occasion, some persons expressed pride and astonishment at " how far the industry has come". Spectators from outside the region took many pictures and showed admiration for the collection as well.
